Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of bread (white, whole-grain, or sourdough)
- 6 slices of bacon (thick-cut recommended)
- 4 large lettuce leaves (Romaine, butter lettuce, or iceberg)
- 2 medium tomatoes (vine-ripened or heirloom), sliced
- 2–3 tbsp mayonnaise (or preferred spread)
- Optional additions: avocado slices, cheese, fried egg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Bacon:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Lay the bacon strips flat in the pan without overlapping.
- Cook until crispy, flipping occasionally for even browning (about 4–6 minutes per side).
- Remove and place the bacon on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
- Toast the Bread:
- Toast your bread slices in a toaster or skillet until golden brown.
- Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice.
- Assemble the BLT:
- Place 3 slices of bacon on one slice of bread.
- Add 2–3 slices of tomato over the bacon, seasoning lightly with salt and pepper.
- Layer lettuce leaves over the tomatoes.
- Top with the second slice of bread (mayonnaise side facing the lettuce).
- Customize (Optional):
- Add avocado slices, a fried egg, or cheese for a twist.
- Serve:
- Cut the sandwich diagonally for a classic presentation. Serve immediately with your favorite side.
Notes
- For a healthier version, use turkey bacon or plant-based bacon alternatives.
- Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
- To avoid soggy bread, pat the tomatoes dry before assembling.
