BLT Sandwich

The BLT sandwich is a classic favorite, combining crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and toasted bread for a perfect balance of textures and flavors. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for lunch, dinner, or even a satisfying snack.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole-grain, or sourdough)
  • 6 slices of bacon (thick-cut recommended)
  • 4 large lettuce leaves (Romaine, butter lettuce, or iceberg)
  • 2 medium tomatoes (vine-ripened or heirloom), sliced
  • 23 tbsp mayonnaise (or preferred spread)
  • Optional additions: avocado slices, cheese, fried egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bacon:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Lay the bacon strips flat in the pan without overlapping.
    • Cook until crispy, flipping occasionally for even browning (about 4–6 minutes per side).
    • Remove and place the bacon on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
  • Toast the Bread:
    • Toast your bread slices in a toaster or skillet until golden brown.
    • Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice.
  • Assemble the BLT:
    • Place 3 slices of bacon on one slice of bread.
    • Add 2–3 slices of tomato over the bacon, seasoning lightly with salt and pepper.
    • Layer lettuce leaves over the tomatoes.
    • Top with the second slice of bread (mayonnaise side facing the lettuce).
  • Customize (Optional):
    • Add avocado slices, a fried egg, or cheese for a twist.
  • Serve:
    • Cut the sandwich diagonally for a classic presentation. Serve immediately with your favorite side.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, use turkey bacon or plant-based bacon alternatives.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • To avoid soggy bread, pat the tomatoes dry before assembling.
