  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef and Broccoli:

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for stir-frying)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced

For the Stir-Fry Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef:

    • Toss the sliced beef with cornstarch and soy sauce. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  • Prepare the Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, beef broth, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  • Cook the Broccoli:

    • Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a splash of oil and stir-fry broccoli for 2-3 minutes until crisp-tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Cook the Beef:

    • In the same pan, heat another tablespoon of oil. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Combine and Finish:

    • Add garlic and ginger to the pan. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Return the beef and broccoli to the pan. Pour the sauce over and toss until everything is evenly coated and the sauce thickens (1-2 minutes).
  • Serve:

    • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add chili flakes or sriracha to the sauce.
  • Substitute chicken or tofu for beef for variation.
  • Frozen broccoli can be used if fresh is unavailable.
